lynx graphic design

Lynx Graphic Design, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, was established in 1999 as Textlynx web and print services.

Initially the company was focused on editing and proof-reading and in producing largely text-based print and web projects.

However, in the course of a decade of trading, a shift to the graphic design aspects of our work, and the addition of PHP coding and MySQL databasing to our web services meant that in 2009 we decided the new name would better reflect the services we now provide.

We believe our prices represents excellent value. We rely mainly on word of mouth referrals and the web for new business, so do not have the large advertising overhead of some design companies.

Print design & print management

Our print design services, for everything from business cards to display banners, also include print management. Print management is normally only done for jobs where we have done the design work.

Most of our print design is done in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. Proofs and final print artwork are usually supplied as PDF files. Some jobs, such as logo design, can be supplied in a range of formats for different uses.

PDF is now the standard in supplying artwork to printers.

We are specialists in arranging environmentally friendly printing.

Web design & development

Our web services include all aspects of getting a website online.

Our websites are developed with Adobe Dreamweaver, and, for dynamic database-driven websites, php and MySQL.

We are experienced in designing to meet web coding and accessibility standards.

For web design clients we can also arrange domain name registration and suitable web hosting.

Our specialist service adding bespoke functionality to websites for online campaigning is CampaigningOnline.com. If required as part of an overall web development project, it can all be done through Lynx Graphic Design.

environmental policy

We recognise the importance of trying to minimise our environmental impact. To this end, we take the following measures:

Energy

Energy use is an important criterion in our purchasing decisions. Our electricity is from a 100% renewables tariff and our gas supply has a 100% carbon offset with carbon credits from projects certified to United Nations rules.

Office

All lightbulbs are low energy. Kettle is energy efficient and water-saving. Tea and coffee are Fairtrade. Paper, cardboard metal and glass are all recycled.

Our printing requirements

We use recycled or Forest Stewardship Council assured paper, and vegetable oil based ink wherever possible for our printing

Client printing

We encourage print clients to opt for recycled or Forest Stewardship Council assured paper and vegetable oil based inks.

Travel

All travel conducted on behalf of the company is made using public transport or occasionally by car sharing.

Paperless invoicing

Unless paper invoices are required by a client, invoicing is by emailed PDF.

Consumables

We seek to minimise our use of consumable items, and where possible recycle items such as ink cartridges.

Review

As well as always seeking to reduce our environmental impact, we conduct an annual review which includes a Greening the Office online audit.

discounts for charities

We believe our standard prices represent excellent value for money. In addition, we offer discounted rates for charities and non-profit organisations.

A discount of 10% on design and development rates is offered to all charities and non-profit organisations. This increases to 20% for members of Scottish Environment LINK.

While these discounts do not apply to services such as web hosting, domain name registration or printing, we always look for best value from these outsourced services.
